The 31st edition of the Málaga Jazz Festival will arrive in November. It is a musical event that fills the capital of culture, rhythm and good vibes. The festival is held from 8 to 13 November at the Cervantes Theater. During these days live music will fill spaces throughout the city, in bars, restaurants, hotels, squares and beaches. The climate of Malaga in autumn is still good and allows for initiatives of this type. All the time is good to discover the corners of Malaga and, if accompanied by good music, much better.
This new edition will have the presence of two legendary bass players: Dave Holland and Ron Carter, both marked the rhythm of two of the most celebrated formations of Miles Davis. Also we have concerts of three of the best composers and instrumentalists, the saxophonist Steve Coleman, the pianist John Medeski and pianist Eliane Elias.
To begin the festival, the saxophonist Steve Coleman will make a performance in the mix of different musical styles such as funk, African music or even hip hop. The musician will arrive in Málaga with his project “Five Elements” in which he has been working since 1981. He will be accompanied by Jonathan Finlayson on trumpet, Anthony Tidd on bass, Sean Rickman on drums and Myles Okazaki playing guitar.
The legendary bass player Ron Carter will perform at the festival on the second day. An authentic legend that takes practically all his life dedicated to music. He will be joined by his group Golden Stryker Trio. The musician will be recognized with the Cifú Award, a reward established in the last edition of the festival in honor of the communicator Juan Claudio Cifuentes.
To finish the festival will be a special concert “Fancinemajazz”, a show in which it becomes a tour of the songs with a Oscar and led by the Provincial Symphony Orchestra and Javier Navas Sextet.
